Why Sage Canyon Horsemanship

12+ years of experience.

Sage Canyon Horsemanship is a small program on purpose: a handful of horses at a time, every one ridden six days a week by the same hands. Colts get a foundation — quiet feet, soft face, honest stops — before anyone asks for speed. Problem horses get diagnosed before they get corrected, because bucking, bolting and trailer fights are usually symptoms, not personalities.

Owners are part of the program here; a trained horse under an untrained rider unwinds in a month, so you ride with us before pickup, every time.

  • Video every week: You see the actual rides — progress, setbacks and all — not a story at pickup time.
  • The owner rides too: Before a horse leaves, you ride it here with coaching — the training has to transfer to your saddle.
  • Small string, same hands: A few horses at a time, ridden six days a week by the trainer you talked to — not a barn crew.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long does colt starting take?

Thirty days makes a started horse, not a finished one. Most colts do best with sixty to ninety days here, then wet saddle blankets at home — we will tell you honestly where yours is.

Can you fix a horse that bucks?

Usually — once we find out why. Pain, fear and holes in training each get different fixes, and we rule out the first one with your vet before we school the rest.
